Serbian President Vucic to address the nation following protests

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that he will address the nation this evening following the resignations of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic and Novi Sad Mayor Milan Djuric earlier today. The speech, expected at 8:00 PM, will be broadcast live on television and social media.

15 PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES IN TRAIN STATION ACCIDENT

Tensions in the country escalated after a roof collapse at the Novi Sad train station on November 1, 2024, resulted in 15 deaths and left 2 people seriously injured. Protests that began following the incident led to the resignation of government officials. Serbia's Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Goran Vesic, Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Tomislav Momirovic, and the head of the state railway company Jelena Tanaskovic resigned. Furthermore, public outcry continued, and Novi Sad Mayor Milan Djuric also announced that he would resign.

Finally, with Prime Minister Vucevic also announcing that he would resign on Tuesday, the political crisis has deepened. While 11 people have been detained in connection with the accident and indictments have been prepared against 13 individuals, the intensity of the protests has not diminished.

President Vucic's speech carries great significance regarding the political atmosphere in the country and the public's reaction.
