Trump's pre-election threat to Democrats

US President Donald Trump has heightened political tensions in Washington with his statements ahead of the Congressional midterm elections to be held on November 3. Speaking on the possibility of Republicans losing their majority in Congress, Trump stated that if Democrats gain the upper hand, he will veto any regulations that come across his desk.

Trump responded to a question about what stance he would take if Democrats win a majority in Congress with a message that he would not hesitate to use his presidential powers. The US President argued that this approach would force Democrats to negotiate.

The statement has also brought back to the agenda discussions regarding potential gridlock between the White House and Congress following the midterm elections. Trump's move was interpreted as a sign that the veto card could be used more aggressively in the legislative process after the elections.

ELECTION SECURITY AND IRAN MESSAGE

In his remarks, Trump also touched upon the debates regarding election security in the US. Evaluating Elon Musk's warnings directed at Democrats, Trump said these warnings were not unfounded. He gave a negative response to a question about whether the elections would be held securely.

In his interview on the "Pod Force One" podcast program released on Monday, the US President also addressed the potential process for an agreement with Iran. Claiming that the Tehran administration wants to reach a compromise with Washington, Trump stated that the outcome of the process is not yet clear.

"You know they want to make a deal. We'll see if there's a deal or not."

Touching on US Middle East policies in the interview, Trump evaluated the results of Washington's military and strategic moves in the region. Speaking about operations against Iranian-backed entities, Trump used the phrase, "We toppled/neutralized two of their regimes."

Trump's statements indicate that discussions regarding both the security of the election process in the US and the balance of power between Congress and the White House will remain on the agenda after the elections.
