Trump's two-path message to Iran: Negotiation or military intervention

Speaking at an economic event in Las Vegas, US President Donald Trump once again emphasized that they will absolutely prevent Iran from possessing nuclear weapons. The leader stated, "I would prefer to reach an agreement with them because I don't want to kill people."

Trump emphasized that the US administration is ready for a major military operation if necessary, but also announced that he is taking into account the calls for negotiation coming from Gulf countries in the region and Iranian officials. Stating that the Iranian side called him and said, "Don't do this, let's talk," Trump said, "We are talking right now. We will see what happens, but they respect us." Nevertheless, Trump underlined that if the talks fail, the US would not hesitate to respond, stating that they would strike Iran "hard."

Trump underscored that their main goal is to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and maintained a firm stance on this issue.

The agenda in the President's remarks was not limited to foreign policy. Donald Trump claimed that he stopped the entry of illegal immigrants into the US after taking office. He used the words, "In 30 days, I stopped millions and millions of people from invading our country. Just think, our country was being invaded. 25 million people were coming into our country from our southern border."

Trump claimed that not a single irregular migrant has crossed into the US in the last 15 months. He also stated that they have taken decisive steps to prevent crimes associated with migrants. Referring to the migration waves experienced in Europe, the President said, "You saw what happened in Spain last week, more than 60 thousand migrants flocked to the border, they invaded a town, attacked innocent citizens, and looted the streets. This is what the communists want for America."

Defending the detention and deportation operations carried out by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) units, Trump concluded his remarks by saying, "We will always stand by our law enforcement officers."
