In a written statement issued by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) under the US Department of Defense (Pentagon), it was stated that Norway had requested to purchase 300 "AIM-120C-8" Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles, 20 missile guidance systems, and other military materials.

SUBMITTED FOR CONGRESSIONAL APPROVAL

The statement noted that the purchase request for the approximately $1.94 billion worth of missiles and military equipment has been accepted by the Department of State, and that the relevant documents have been submitted to Congress for approval.

The statement further recorded that the sale would enhance Norway's ability to meet "current and future threats" by replacing the missiles it currently possesses with the latest versions.
