US private security firm founder says 'we must adopt our imperial attitude'

Erik Prince, a former Navy SEAL and founder of the US private security firm Blackwater, criticized the security of the US-Mexico border and said that "it is time to govern countries that cannot govern themselves."

Prince stated that "the real issue is what governance means and which countries are well-governed."

Erik Prince said, "If most of these countries in the world cannot govern themselves, then it is time for us to resume our imperial attitude and tell these countries, 'If you cannot govern yourselves, we will govern.' Enough is enough. We are tired of being invaded."

Emphasizing that these statements also apply to a large part of Africa, Prince made remarks accusing the governments in these regions of corruption.

When the host said, "Viewers will say 'Erik Prince is talking about colonialism again'," Prince replied, "Absolutely."

ABOUT BLACKWATER

Blackwater was founded by Erik Prince in 1997. In 2004, it was hired by the US government to protect State Department personnel. In 2007, the company was accused of the intentional killing of 17 civilians in Iraq by Blackwater employees.

Blackwater later changed its name to "Xe Services" and then to "Academi."

In 2008, 4 former mercenaries working for Blackwater appeared in court on various charges, including "voluntary manslaughter."

Prince was also commissioned by the UAE administration during the Arab Spring to establish a legionnaire royal guard unit that would take orders only from the emir's family and "suppress uprisings by force of arms when necessary."

Prince's name also appeared in different forms in the report by US Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who was investigating potential ties between US President Donald Trump and Russia.

In 2019, Erik Prince proposed to Trump that a private army of 5,000 mercenaries be deployed to Venezuela to topple Nicolas Maduro.

Testifying before the US Congress regarding this and some other controversial high-level meetings, Prince denied the meetings but was forced to retract his previous denials in light of evidence that emerged later.
