US to its citizens in Iraq: Leave the country immediately
The US Embassy in Baghdad has urged US citizens not to travel to Iraq due to "recent regional developments" and called on those currently in Iraq to leave the country immediately. The statement also noted that disruptions to travel or the sudden closure of airspace without prior notice could occur.
In the warning issued by the Embassy, US citizens in Iraq were advised to exercise the highest level of caution and vigilance due to recent regional developments, and to continuously monitor local news sources.
Stating that situations such as travel disruptions or the sudden closure of airspace without prior notice could occur, the Embassy called on US citizens not to travel to Iraq for any reason and for those already in Iraq to leave the country immediately.
