White House: President Biden tests positive for COVID-19
The White House announced that U.S. President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre issued a written statement regarding the matter.
The statement noted that Biden is vaccinated against COVID-19 and is therefore experiencing mild symptoms, and that the President will self-isolate in Delaware.
The statement indicated that Biden took a test after an event in Las Vegas, and his COVID-19 test came back positive.
It was conveyed that Biden will continue to carry out his duties from Delaware, and the White House will provide regular updates on the President's condition.
The statement also included a note from Biden's physician.
The note stated that the President presented with upper respiratory symptoms, while noting that his temperature and pulse were normal.
The note mentioned that Biden has been prescribed "Paxlovid" and that the President will self-isolate.
