Erdoğan signals cabinet reshuffle: 'This may be our last meeting with some colleagues'

Activity in Ankara's political circles has intensified once again. Following President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's remark at the latest Cabinet meeting that "this may be our last meeting with some colleagues," there is growing talk that the long-awaited cabinet revision is now imminent.

Following Erdoğan's statement, questions regarding which ministers will be dismissed and when the changes will take place have become a subject of debate within the AK Party. According to information obtained, the scope of the changes could extend from deputy ministers to the bureaucracy.

It is being awaited with curiosity whether the cabinet reshuffle will occur before or after the intra-party meeting that the AK Party will hold in Kızılcahamam between July 11-13. This is because the next Cabinet meeting will most likely be held after this camp.

In AK Party circles, the names of Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Ersoy, and Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan are coming to the fore among the ministers rumored to be dismissed. Among the claims circulating is that the Ministers of Tourism and Trade, in particular, wish to leave their posts. However, according to some politicians, it is being discussed that other ministers could be dismissed in addition to these four in the cabinet reshuffle.

The success and intra-party relations of influential figures within the cabinet have also been a subject of evaluation. According to information leaked from parliamentary corridors, the results of a survey commissioned by the party from an external source are noteworthy. According to the data reflected to the public, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan ranked first in the survey, while Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç was second and Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya was third.

However, the percentages in the survey results also revealed that the perception of success is low. While the rate of those saying "Hakan Fidan is successful" remained at only 30 percent, Minister of Justice Tunç received 4 percent and Minister of Interior Yerlikaya received 3 percent. This brings to mind that the majority of citizens either do not know the ministers or are not satisfied with their performance.

All eyes in the AK Party are now turned to which names will continue in their posts and which names will take part in the new term following Erdoğan's statement. Possible changes to be made in the cabinet are expected to become clear in the coming days.
