Major airline decides to suspend Abu Dhabi flights

Low-cost airline Wizz Air has decided to halt its Abu Dhabi-based operations as part of a strategy to refocus on Central and Eastern European markets. The company stated that this move stems from factors such as geopolitical risks, operational challenges, and limited market access.

Wizz Air CEO József Váradi stated in an announcement that changing conditions in the Middle East have made it difficult to achieve operational goals. Váradi emphasized that supply chain issues and geopolitical instability in the region were influential in this decision.

EFFECTS OF GEOPOLITICAL TENSION

The decision was made following the conflicts between Israel and Iran last month, which caused temporary closures of airspace. This situation created operational difficulties for many airlines in the region. Wizz Air announced that its Abu Dhabi operations would end in a statement made via the social media platform X.

While the company noted that its exciting journey in the Middle East is coming to an end, it stated that it will shape its future strategies by focusing on its core markets.
