The path to the Republic of Turkey was paved by the victory of the War of Independence. In the War of Independence, there were two enemies to fight. The first was the external enemy, Greece, which, acting as the hitman of imperialism, expanded its occupation starting from İzmir on May 15, 1919, to the banks of the Sakarya River, threatening the outskirts of Ankara. The other was the collaborative front of treason that chose surrender over resistance and colluded with the enemy.
What is interesting is that the patron of both the external enemy and the internal enemy was the same imperialist state. It was the United Kingdom, that is, England, that directed Greece into Anatolia and gave the collaborators inside their task! It was the same imperialist state that lent money to Greece, encouraged its Asia Minor adventure, and met the arms and equipment needs of the Greek Army.
The internal uprisings incited to stifle the Turkish resistance before it could even be born, before it could achieve a centralized structure and become an army, would cause Ankara great trouble. The uprisings aimed at preventing the opening of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey before April 23, 1920, would continue even after the assembly was opened. In Istanbul, three centers of treason, products of the British maternity ward (Society for the Friends of England / Society for the Advancement of Islam / Society for the Advancement of Kurdistan), would continue their work uninterrupted until the victory of the War of Independence.
As concrete evidence of what has been described, let us read from Mustafa Kemal's telegram dated September 9, 1919, regarding the attempt by the Society for the Advancement of Kurdistan, together with Harput Governor Ali Galip, to raid the Sivas Congress: "Mister Novil, one of the British majors who is conducting propaganda for the establishment of an independent Kurdistan under British protection, along with Ekrem (Cemilpaşazade Ekrem), Kâmran Ali, and Celadet, who are among the Kurdish beys who have sold their religion and nationality, and the traitor to the nation and homeland, the Governor of Harput, and the Malatya District Governor Halil from the Bedirhan family who joined them..." The treason would fail, and the collaborators would be forced to flee abroad.
Another example of treason is the Koçgiri uprising. The Society for the Advancement of Kurdistan is again at the head of the matter. The leaders of the uprising are Haydar and Alişan Bey, who are members of the Society for the Advancement of Kurdistan. It had become more or less clear that the Greek Army would advance on Ankara after Bursa and Eskişehir. The goal was to weaken the front and facilitate the Greek advance. Indeed, the fact that 10,000 soldiers had to be withdrawn from the Greek front to suppress the rebellion shows the strategic dimension of the treason.
Neither the United Kingdom's political, military, and economic support for Greece, nor the internal treason uprisings aimed at facilitating the occupier's work, would be enough to prevent the sacred rebellion of the Turks. The War of Independence was crowned with victory, and it was time to build a modern society and state. A nation-state based on a unitary structure, a secular, democratic Republic, would not sit well with imperialism. Because the Republic of Turkey is a model of liberation for oppressed nations, and for imperialists, it is a dangerous model that would lead to the loss of colonial geographies!
After the Republic, imperialism was again behind the uprisings aimed at collapsing the new regime before it could strengthen and institutionalize. The 1925 Sheikh Said, 1930 Ağrı, 1937-1938 Dersim, and other large and small separatist rebellions were all supported by imperialists who had unfinished business with Turkey. The Republic knew how to overcome all these uprisings against the indivisible integrity of the country. Because in that period, the Turkish Nation had a leader like Atatürk and a state that had not lost its memory to Alzheimer's disease through imperial infiltrations and misleading suggestions!
Let no one be misled by the signs that the separatist party changes as often as one changes clothes, nor by their demagogic rhetoric. It should not be overlooked that the deep roots of Political Kurdishness in Turkey come from the Society for the Advancement of Kurdistan (Kürdistan Teali Cemiyeti), which opened its eyes to the world in a British maternity ward.
When the dust and smoke of the postmodern 'opening' and peace speeches settle, it will be seen that the product marketed as brand new is nothing more than the recipe for separation and disintegration that was thrown into the trash during the National Struggle period!
In the 101st year of the Republic, the question that must be answered correctly is this: Despite everything, the Republic of Turkey, which was founded with blood and wisdom, or the 'Opening' Republic that will lead to dissolution and collapse?
