Is the Turkish public preparing for a migration from Gaza?

While Turkey is preoccupied with Gaza day and night, the fact that it ranks low on the agenda in the Arab world should be reflected upon. The determining factor in the Arab world's Palestine policy is not shared religion or language, but rather power balances and calculations of interest. Turkey's stance in this process is far removed from the traditional Republican policy, which is cautious, measured, and prioritizes national interests. Instead of realpolitik, it is being built upon an imaginary policy that has no equivalent in the real world or the region, and which does not align with Turkey's interests.  

How much longer will Turkey continue to pay the heavy costs of a policy shaped by the leader's emotionalism and reactivity, without regard for state wisdom or the rich experience of the Republican foreign service? How quickly was it forgotten that the fantasy of “performing Friday prayers in Damascus” returned like a boomerang, leaving Turkey facing the greatest demographic catastrophe in its history?

Even if it brings short-term gains in domestic politics for the ruling power, this non-policy, which further isolates Turkey abroad, must be abandoned immediately, and a return to state wisdom and the language of the state must be made. The language of anger and finger-wagging, which reinforces the masses' admiration for the leader in domestic politics, is insufficient to deter adversaries in foreign policy. Respect in the international community does not come from street-thug slang, but from economic power and being governed by democracy. 

Turkey should, of course, condemn the brutal attack in which Israel is using disproportionate force in Gaza. Our criticism is directed at the failure to create a Palestine/Gaza policy based on state wisdom that influences neighboring countries and grants Turkey initiative. The Republic of Turkey must immediately abandon inconsistent, day-to-day, frequently changing, and contradictory attitudes and off-the-cuff statements that lead to it being perceived like the Gulf emirates.

After these explanations, it is time to move on to the questions: Are there other calculations being made regarding Gaza that go far beyond ordinary reactions and are being kept on the agenda by appealing to the religious sentiments of the public? Will a new 'Ansar/Muhajir' demagoguery be launched this time over Gaza? By clearing Gaza of Palestinians through secret negotiations, is Israel's task being made easier? Is society being prepared for a Palestinian influx, following the Syrians, through coordinated Friday sermons and preachings by the government and the Presidency of Religious Affairs? 

It is understood that with the approaching Ramadan, the Gaza tragedy will be addressed much more intensely. We can easily say that the same applies to the March 31 local elections. It is evident that we are entering a process where everything will be done to turn the public's religious sensitivity into maximum political rent through Ramadan and fasting. 

It should not be forgotten that Turkey's foundation based on a nation-state and unitary structure is the only equation for existence in this geography. It is not difficult to predict how those who cause the Republic, established with blood and wisdom, to be destroyed by demographic occupation, those who support it, and those who excuse or ignore it with demagoguery about religious or humanitarian reasons, will go down in history and how they will be remembered.

The footsteps of a new demographic occupation, constructed over the Gaza tragedy, are getting closer to us every day!
