Night tours begin at Topkapı Palace
For the first time since it began operating as a museum in 1924, Topkapı Palace will be open for visits during night hours.
Topkapı Palace will be open every Saturday from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
Topkapı Department Head İlhan Kocaman made statements to members of the press.
Stating that the palace can be visited every Saturday between 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM, Kocaman said that all sections of the palace will be kept open during this two-hour period.
İlhan Kocaman noted that there is no electricity in certain sections due to security reasons and said the following:
"Our goal is to provide tours, especially in groups. Since we believe that individual tours would be difficult in areas without electricity, we will form groups at the Gate of Salutation (Babüsselam) and conduct the tours that way. While tour companies will guide the teams they bring with their own guides, we will form groups from those who arrive individually and ensure their tours are conducted under the guidance of our own staff."
