Ankara Palas, one of the iconic structures of the Republican era, has been converted into a museum by the National Palaces Administration while preserving its original architecture.

The 96-year-old building was opened to visitors with a ceremony.

The Ankara Palas Museum, which has completed its restoration, enriched its collection, and been furnished in accordance with modern exhibition criteria, has become the new address for culture and arts in Ankara with 5 halls and nearly 1,200 artifacts displayed across an indoor area of 1,000 square meters.

'RESTORATION LASTED 2.5 YEARS'

Speaking at the Ankara Palas press briefing, President of National Palaces Dr. Yasin Yıldız stated that the building had a serious need for restoration due to its age and usage, noting, "Restoration work was carried out starting from the beginning of 2019 and was completed within two and a half years," and added:

"A portion of the artifacts used in Ankara Palas also hosts numerous historical mementos and historical objects used here, especially by the Founder of our Republic, Atatürk. You will see this in our relevant sections when you tour the museum. Our visitors will be able to see both Atatürk's personal belongings and the furniture he used during events here, as well as their original settings. We have brought these back to life."
