Local guide Barzani Ceylan and a friend began climbing toward the summit during the night to find the 2 people who had gone missing near the peak of the mountain due to adverse weather conditions.

Ceylan found the lifeless bodies of Dilek Gökbulak and Muhammed Halim Dalgın at an altitude of 4,900 meters.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) teams have launched an operation to recover the bodies from where they were found.

On Saturday, July 20, 2 people from a group climbing the 5,137-meter-high Mount Ararat became stranded at an altitude of 5,050 meters due to fog and a blizzard, and subsequently went missing.

AFAD, UMKE, and gendarmerie teams had launched a search and rescue operation in the region supported by UAVs.
