5.0 magnitude earthquake in Spain: Damage reported to homes and vehicles

A 5.0 magnitude earthquake occurred around 01:00 local time in the municipality of Alhendín in the city of Granada, located in Spain's Andalusia autonomous region.

The Andalusian government announced that some homes and vehicles sustained damage following the tremor. It was stated that there were no injuries due to the earthquake.

Antonio Sanz Cabello, Vice President of the Andalusian regional government, announced on his social media account that an emergency plan had been activated.

Cabello issued the following warning to citizens in Granada who felt the earthquake:

"If you are in Granada, felt the earthquake, are safe, and your home has no damage, stay calm and avoid entering or exiting buildings unnecessarily. Stay away from building facades, eaves, balconies, walls, and other elements that could fall while on the street."
