After Beypazarı, mineral water producers also issue a statement: 'Regulations in Switzerland are different'
The Swiss Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office has warned that Beypazarı Mineral Water contains high levels of boron and should not be consumed. Following the Beypazarı brand, a statement has also been issued by the Turkish Mineral Water Producers Association.
Following reports that the Swiss Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) detected high levels of boron in Beypazarı mineral water imported from Turkey and subsequently banned the product in the country, a series of statements have been issued.
In a statement made by the Turkish Mineral Water Producers Association (MASUDER), it was stated, "Regulations in Switzerland are different from those in the European Union, and the boron mineral limit applied in their regulations is much lower."
The statement noted, "News reports are being published on social media platforms and some news sources regarding the decision issued by the Swiss Federal Food Safety Office concerning our member, Beypazarı Mineral Water. As the Turkish Mineral Water Producers Association (MASUDER), we felt the need to share the following statement regarding this situation with the valued public."
"EXPORTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO EU COUNTRIES FOR YEARS"
The statement included the following:
"Our country has harmonized its regulations regarding natural mineral water with the European Union since 2004.
Thanks to this, our sector has been exporting to all European Union (EU) countries for years.
"BORON MINERAL LIMIT IS LOW IN SWITZERLAND"
Regulations in Switzerland are different from those in the European Union, and the boron mineral limit applied in their regulations is much lower.
Therefore, this situation arises from the difference between the regulations of European Union countries and Switzerland.
Mineral water producers operating in our country carry out production according to the Republic of Turkey's regulations, which have been harmonized with the European Union.
Our country stands out with its much richer mineral content compared to its counterparts in Europe in terms of the underground natural mineral water resources it possesses.
Turkey's mineral-rich mineral waters are consumed with peace of mind and enjoyed both in our geography and all over the world."
