Noting that work on the 12th Judicial Package is ongoing, Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek stated that they are also considering making changes to the Turkish Penal Code and the enforcement system.
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek met with a delegation led by the President of the National Assembly of Slovenia, Klakocar Zupancic, at the Ministry.
Explaining some of the work recently carried out in the legal system, Gürlek said, "Under the leadership of our President, we have carried out very important reforms in the field of justice by announcing the 4th Judicial Reform Strategy Document for the years 2025 and 2029. In this context, we submitted the 11th Judicial Package to Parliament in December 2025, and our work on the 12th Judicial Package is ongoing.
At the same time, we are considering making some changes to the Turkish Penal Code and the enforcement system in order to strengthen criminal justice and make enforcement and trial processes more effective."
Referring to the recognition of the State of Palestine as a result of the vote held in the National Assembly of Slovenia, Gürlek said, "Our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has also expressed his satisfaction with Slovenia's decision to recognize the State of Palestine in every setting.
As Turkey, we continue to defend human dignity, peace, and justice under all circumstances. We always continue to stand by the rightful struggle of the Palestinian people and the Palestinians. I reiterate our desire to develop the friendship and judicial cooperation between the two countries with each passing day," he said.
