AKP's Zengin reacts: 'There is a media full of lies: It has been run by the CHP for years'

Attending the 7th Ordinary District Congress of the AKP in Çayırova, held at the Necmettin Erbakan Cultural Center in Kocaeli, Zengin responded to those who constantly tell them "you have been in power for 22 years" as if it were an insult, stating that being in power for 22 years is actually magnificent.

AKP Deputy Group Chairman Özlem Zengin said, "We have reached a point where we cannot discuss any issue at its core. It is a dramatic picture. It is as if we are managing the atmosphere of the General Assembly through news reports. When we come to the General Assembly, there is a media full of lies. There is an agenda of malicious media. This agenda occupies the General Assembly. We prove that each one of them is a lie, one by one, but despite that, they continue to tell and multiply these lies as if they were the truth."

Stating that they are facing a massive politics of lies, Zengin explained that when she examined research on "whether evil or truth spreads faster in the world," according to figures provided by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, fake news spreads 10 times faster, and in Turkey, it spreads 6 times faster.

Zengin pointed out that although the opposition submits separate motions despite the establishment of research commissions with joint signatures in the Parliamentary General Assembly, the media reports in a rote manner that "it was rejected by the votes of the AK Party and MHP" when they vote "yes" to the joint motion and reject the separately submitted one.

Stating that they have become unable to discuss any issue in the General Assembly, Zengin said, "We have reached a point where we cannot discuss any issue at its core. It is a dramatic picture. Stating that two opposition parties blamed them regarding the incident in the Selçuk district of İzmir where 5 children lost their lives, Zengin noted the following:

"We are explaining whether the District Governorship, the Municipality, and the relevant institutions have done their duty. While the issue is being discussed, the conversation turns to the economy. Based on this, they say, 'You are the murderers.' Can such a thing be? Who does the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality belong to, friends? Isn't it the CHP? It has been under their administration for years.

They talk about social media activism. The administration of the Selçuk Municipality also belongs to the Republican People's Party. What is its population? One-third of Çayırova, 37 thousand. It is headed by a lady who is a lawyer. The lady was in Barcelona when the events took place and did not even come to the funeral.

The DEM Party members, who are the biggest supporters of the CHP in metropolitan cities, tell us, 'You are the murderers.' Can there be such a lack of conscience? They wrap up the issue and bring it to financial reasons. This problem has many causes; talking only about financial issues is not enough to solve it."
