The bizarre incident took place at the Necattin Mosque in Bağcılar. According to allegations, an individual named Muhammet F.G. argued with imam Dursun Kuru on the grounds that he did not intervene with a person praying in shorts at the mosque. After the argument, the individual left the mosque and returned a short while later with his bow. Seeing imam Dursun Kuru exiting after the prayer, Muhammet F.G. wounded the imam with an arrow.

Citizens who witnessed the events intervened. The attacker was subdued by local shopkeepers, and police and medical teams were called to the scene.

The attacker, Muhammet F.G., was handed over to the police teams that arrived at the scene. The suspect, who was taken into custody, was taken to the police station for questioning. Police teams have launched an investigation into the incident.
