AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has filed a 500 thousand lira non-pecuniary damages lawsuit against CHP leader Özgür Özel over his 'junta' remarks.
Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel, in his speech at his party's extraordinary congress, said, "Tayyip Erdoğan is not a president who has the support of the people behind him, but has turned into a junta leader who targets those who receive the support of the people and who could be his rivals."
While ministers poured out reactions to these words by Özel, AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also took action.
Erdoğan has filed a 500 thousand lira compensation lawsuit against CHP leader Özel, who called him a junta leader.
The statement regarding the matter was made by Erdoğan's lawyer, Hüseyin Aydın.
Aydın used the following expressions in his statement on his X account:
“A non-pecuniary damages lawsuit of 500 thousand TL has been filed at the Ankara Civil Court of First Instance due to the baseless accusations and insulting expressions such as 'junta leader' etc. targeting our President by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel at the extraordinary congress.
