President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş's allocated Audi A8 official vehicle had sparked public backlash.

Following the publication and entry into force of the Public Austerity Package announced by Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek in the Official Gazette, the Presidency of Religious Affairs also announced the austerity measures adopted by the institution.

Diyanet announced that the Audi A8 vehicle allocated to Erbaş has been returned.

The statement made by Diyanet is as follows;

"Within the scope of the Austerity Measures Circular, which has been published in the Official Gazette and entered into force, it has been deemed beneficial to share with the public the measures that we, as the Presidency, will implement.

Within the scope of the Austerity Measures Circular published in the Official Gazette on May 17, 2024, our Presidency has initially planned the following;

It is planned that all in-service training will be conducted in training centers and other facilities belonging to our Presidency, and that training programs with suitable content will be held online.

1 Audi A8 vehicle used in the service of our Presidency has been returned.

Except for strictly necessary needs, no purchases of fixed assets, office supplies, stationery, etc., will be made in the central, provincial, and overseas organizations.

Institutional meetings, primarily the attaché-advisor meetings, will be held online.

Except for cases that are very important and essential for the services of our Presidency, overseas programs will be canceled, and overseas personnel assignments will be kept to a minimum.

Remote working opportunities will be developed for suitable positions.

In this context, necessary work will be meticulously carried out and followed up in all areas covered by the austerity measures within the Presidency's central, provincial, and overseas organizations.
