Breaking News: Statement from the Ministry of National Defense regarding PJAK, the Iranian branch of the terrorist organization PKK

During the Ministry of National Defense's (MSB) weekly briefing, the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran and the issue of ballistic ammunition heading toward the Hatay border, which was neutralized in the air, were evaluated.

Emphasizing that the rising tension in the region must end, the Ministry stated, "We hope for the immediate cessation of conflicts that threaten the lives of innocent civilians and the peace and stability of our region," and called for dialogue to resolve the issues.

IRAN'S BALLISTIC MISSILE THAT FELL IN HATAY

The MSB reported that the ballistic ammunition, which was determined to have been fired from Iran, was destroyed by NATO air and missile defense assets operating in the Eastern Mediterranean. Stating that there was no loss of life or injury in the incident, the following statement was made:

"A ballistic munition, which was determined to have been fired from Iran yesterday (March 4) and was heading toward our country after passing through Iraqi and Syrian airspace, was timely engaged and neutralized in the air by NATO air and missile defense assets stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean. It has been determined that the piece that fell in the Dörtyol district of Hatay after the destruction of the aforementioned threat belongs to the air defense ammunition used within the scope of the interception activity, and no loss of life or injury occurred in the incident.

Turkey maintains its determination and capacity to ensure the security of its citizens and airspace at the highest level; it continues its responsible approach that prioritizes the protection of regional peace and stability. However, we once again emphasize that our right to respond to hostile attitudes, regardless of who they come from, is reserved; we are following the developments in close coordination with NATO and our other allies."

RESPONSE TO CLAIMS OF “MASS MIGRATION FROM IRAN”

At the meeting, it was also stated that claims of mass migration from Iran to the Turkish border do not reflect the truth.

Emphasizing that the Turkish Armed Forces are prepared for all possible scenarios, the MSB made the following statement:

"The Turkish Armed Forces are taking the necessary measures against all kinds of scenarios regarding regional developments in coordination with the relevant institutions of our state. It is important not to give credence to posts that aim to create a perception in the public with manipulative content regarding the existence of mass migration movements from Iran to Turkey."

"PJAK ACTIVITIES ARE BEING CLOSELY MONITORED"

The Ministry also announced that the activities of PJAK, the Iranian branch of the terrorist organization PKK, in the region are being monitored.

The statement included the following expressions:

"Turkey is not in favor of the division of neighboring countries, but rather the preservation of their territorial integrity. In this context, the activities of structures such as the terrorist organization PJAK, which fuel ethnic separatism, negatively affect not only Iran's security but also the general peace and stability of the region. We are closely monitoring the activities carried out by the terrorist organization PJAK in Iran and the developments in the region in coordination with the relevant institutions of our state."
