Broadcaster who insulted religious values and Atatürk arrested
A broadcaster who hurled insults and profanity at the Prophet Muhammad, religion, and Atatürk's mother, Zübeyde Hanım, during live social media broadcasts has been detained by police. The individual was arrested after being referred to the courthouse following police processing.
Videos of a broadcaster named Kartal Bulut D., who was conducting live streams on social media, in which he hurled insults and profanity at the Prophet Muhammad, religion, and Atatürk's mother, Zübeyde Hanım, drew widespread backlash.
Following this, the Karşıyaka Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation.
As part of the investigation, a detention warrant was issued for Kartal Bulut D., and the individual was taken into custody by Security Branch Directorate forces who arrived at his address.
ARRESTED
Kartal Bulut D., who was also seen responding to the backlash by saying "go ahead and file a complaint," stated in his police testimony that he had been drinking alcohol during the broadcasts. The broadcaster was referred to the courthouse after his processing and was arrested and sent to prison.
