Call to Bahçeli from Sinan Ateş's sister: 'Let's solve this murder together'

Selma Ateş, the sister of former Idealist Hearths President Sinan Ateş, who was killed in an armed attack in Ankara on December 30, 2022, has called on Bahçeli, saying, "Let's catch the killers together."

MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made statements regarding the murder on May 27, the Idealist Martyrs Commemoration Day, without mentioning Sinan Ateş's name once again. Bahçeli stated, "I propose a definitive reckoning here with the scoundrels who carry the blood of Idealists in their hands and consciences, and I say that we are ready for this."

According to the report by T24 columnist Candan Yıldız, following these statements, Sinan Ateş's sister Selma Ateş called on Devlet Bahçeli, saying, "Come, let's catch the collaborators and the instigators together. Let's solve this murder together. Extend a hand so that we may believe you. If he is sincere, we are ready to provide all the documents we have. Let's clean the party of filth."

Only three sentences of Ayşe Ateş's testimony were included in the indictment for the Sinan Ateş murder.

Journalist Yıldız, stating, "Yet Ayşe Ateş had given a 17-page testimony," said the following:

"Furthermore, the witness testimony of Ömer Zengin, a close friend of Sinan Ateş who came from abroad to testify, was also missing from the indictment. Yet Zengin had come from abroad to give his testimony. The witness testimony of Haluk Türk, a close friend of Sinan Ateş, was also not included in the indictment.

For example, the testimony of Erdal Yılmaz, who was with Sinan Ateş in Istanbul one day before the murder and who said, 'I am not an Idealist, Sinan was my old friend, I was constantly by his side after he left the presidency,' has not been sought so far.

These are the developments that create doubts and question marks regarding the Sinan Ateş murder investigation... For this reason, Bahçeli's call for 'their testimonies to be taken' is an indication of either a criticism of the investigation or his ignorance of the picture I mentioned above... On the other hand, Selma Ateş stated that she was followed in Mersin, where she went to follow the trial of former Mersin Idealist Hearths President Çağrı Ünel, and that she had a camera installed in her car, filmed those following her, and would share the recordings in her possession in the event of a negative situation.

The file with 22 suspects in the Sinan Ateş murder has turned into an indictment. The investigation regarding 17 other people is proceeding through a separate file. The fate of this file depends on political developments... Or rather, on the future of the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı)..."
