Carpet detail draws attention ahead of Erdoğan's Aydın visit: 'Had them all ironed'

Ahead of the mass opening ceremony held in Aydın on January 24, preparations in the city drew attention.

Footage showing the carpet to be used at the ceremony being carefully ironed in front of the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality, where the event took place, was shared thousands of times on social media.

Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu had recently been in the spotlight after resigning from the CHP and joining the AKP. It was alleged that Çerçioğlu gave instructions to remove the wrinkles from the carpet that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan would walk on. This practice was seen to have caused a wide stir among the public and on social media.

At the ceremony, President Erdoğan inaugurated several investments in Aydın. It was reported that every detail of the organization was handled with meticulous care, and the preparations on the carpet, in particular, became a subject of debate on many platforms.
