Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu had recently been in the spotlight after resigning from the CHP and joining the AKP. It was alleged that Çerçioğlu gave instructions to remove the wrinkles from the carpet that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan would walk on.
