Chase ends in scuffle: Police officer's finger broken

In the Körfez district of Kocaeli, a truck driver who failed to comply with a police "stop" order was intercepted and brought to a halt following a chase. A police officer's finger was broken during a scuffle that ensued when the driver resisted the teams.

According to the information obtained, police teams attempted to stop a Mercedes-brand truck with license plate 66 AAZ 268, which was traveling in the Istanbul direction on the Yeniyalı Neighborhood D-100 highway. The truck driver, ignoring the police's "stop" order, began to flee.

Following the chase, police teams stopped the truck on Yarımca Hızır Reis Street.

The driver, who got out of the truck and whose identity could not be determined, resisted the police. During the ensuing scuffle, a police officer's finger was broken, while the driver escaped by running into side streets.

Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the area.

The police officer, who received initial intervention from medical teams, was taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile, police teams conducted an investigation on the truck and launched an operation to apprehend the fleeing driver.
