CHP Adalar Mayor Erdem Gül sentenced to 5 years in prison
Adalar Mayor and former Cumhuriyet Ankara Representative Erdem Gül has been sentenced to 5 years in prison over the MİT trucks report. Gül was convicted on charges of "knowingly and willingly aiding a terrorist organization." Gül commented on the verdict, stating, "This is a punishment for journalism."
CHP Adalar Mayor Erdem Gül previously served as the Ankara Representative for the newspaper Cumhuriyet. However, he has been sentenced to 5 years in prison in the trial regarding the MİT trucks report.
Erdem Gül was tried on charges of "knowingly and willingly aiding a terrorist organization" in relation to the MİT trucks report published while he was working at Cumhuriyet, and the court handed down a 5-year prison sentence.
Following the hearing, Erdem Gül stated, "This is a punishment for journalism."
