CHP's Yücel issues striking challenge regarding Mansur Yavaş: 'They will be left empty-handed'
The CHP Central Executive Board (MYK) met at the party headquarters under the chairmanship of Chairman Özgür Özel. Party Spokesperson Deniz Yücel spoke at a press conference held regarding the meeting.
Stating that they held the 61st of their 'Standing Up for the National Will' rallies in Brussels yesterday, Yücel said, "We voiced our demand for 'justice' this time from Brussels, together with thousands of our expatriate citizens whose minds, hearts, relatives, and roots are in Turkey, and who are concerned for their homeland and nation due to the injustices being experienced.
We know that the prerequisite for living together in peace and tranquility in a democratic country is the 'rule of law,' and that every judicial decision that is not under the influence or shadow of politics illuminates the future of this country.
For this reason, we are growing our struggle for 'law' and 'justice' both at home and abroad more and more every day without tiring," he stated.
"MANSUR YAVAŞ IS NEITHER A DEFENDANT, NOR A WITNESS, NOR A SUSPECT"
Regarding the request for authorization to investigate Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, Yücel said, "The issue is extremely clear. The Court of Accounts and MASAK have conducted detailed examinations. That was not enough, and our mayor had an additional investigation conducted himself. Not a single penny without a record could be found.
Everything is out in the open with full transparency. An indictment was announced at the beginning of last week regarding this investigation. Mansur Yavaş is neither a defendant, nor a witness, nor a suspect. We see that while his name is not even mentioned in the investigation, a 'mastermind' has deemed it appropriate to request authorization to investigate Mayor Mansur as well.
Those who cannot digest losing Ankara, those who rub their hands together to discredit our Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Mansur Yavaş, will be left empty-handed. Those who act with political rather than legal motives to include Mansur Yavaş—who ended the 25-year nightmare of municipalism and administration in Ankara by being elected with a record number of votes—in the investigation, and those who refrain from investigating corruption from the past period, will of course be held accountable for this before the law," he said.
"THIS BROKEN SYSTEM COULD PROTECT NEITHER ÖKTEM NOR JUSTICE"
Stating that children who grew up in low-income, disadvantaged neighborhoods and did not complete their education are joining criminal organizations with the promise of making big money the easy way, Yücel said, "They get involved in crime in exchange for various benefits, they act as hitmen, they kill people. This once again reveals that what dominates the country is not a 'legal order' but a 'mafia order.'
The possibility that the real instigators of these gangs and the mafia order established by these gangs are directing politics is another disturbing dimension of this matter.
It is a system of lawlessness where our elected mayors and valuable bureaucrats, who do not even have the suspicion of fleeing abroad, are kept in prisons, while people are killed in broad daylight in the heart of Ankara and Istanbul, and some defendants are released on parole; this broken system could protect neither Serdar Öktem nor justice.
While statistics on children dragged into crime are becoming more terrifying every day, unsolved murders and the injustices experienced have become a reality of this country," he stated.
