AKP member Şamil Tayyar evaluated the statement made by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding pensions following the cabinet meeting.
Drawing attention to Erdoğan's remarks stating that they are aware of the economic difficulties experienced by retirees, Tayyar argued that this approach signals a change in the mindset toward retirees.
"It shows a change in mentality"
In a post on his social media account, Tayyar evaluated President Erdoğan's words, "We are aware of the difficulties our retirees are experiencing."
Stating that rosy pictures have been painted regarding the situation of retirees until now, Tayyar expressed that he finds the acknowledgment of the difficulties experienced to be important, stating, "The acknowledgment of the living difficulties of retirees shows a change in mentality. It is very important."
New regulation may come into effect on January 1, 2027
Touching upon the words of AKP Chairman and President Erdoğan, who stated that financial resources have been created in the 2027 budget to improve the situation of retirees and that it is aimed to implement the necessary legal regulation by the end of the year, Tayyar noted that the statement provided clues regarding the timeline of the new regulation.
Based on Erdoğan's expressions, Tayyar stated that the regulation could be valid as of January 1, 2027, if it is completed in time.
He drew attention to the emphasis on "justice and fairness"
Drawing further attention to the emphasis on "justice" and "fairness" in Erdoğan's statement, Tayyar expressed his belief that criteria such as the number of premium days and length of service could be applied in accordance with their purpose in the new regulation.
Tayyar expressed his expectation with the following words:
"I think it will be a regulation where criteria such as the number of premium days and length of service will be applied in accordance with their purpose, and where purchasing power will increase significantly. God willing."
