Million-lira fine for tech giant from the Competition Board
The Competition Board has imposed a 21 million lira fine on Vatan Bilgisayar for engaging in anti-competitive information sharing.
The Competition Authority has determined that Vatan Bilgisayar violated competition rules by engaging in indirect information sharing with Teknosa and MediaMarkt through Fakir Elektrikli Ev Aletleri.
This situation was evaluated as part of a structure known as a "hub-and-spoke cartel," and it was determined that the company violated the Law on the Protection of Competition.
During the investigation process, Vatan Bilgisayar chose to settle alongside the other parties. Within the scope of this settlement, a 25 percent discount was applied to the administrative fine imposed by the Competition Board, resulting in a fine of approximately 21 million lira for the company. With this decision, the investigation into Vatan Bilgisayar has been concluded.
