Date set, penalties for non-compliance: Security camera mandate for businesses selling tobacco and alcohol

The requirement to install camera systems in businesses licensed to sell tobacco and alcohol is being expanded.

WARNING SENT TO BUSINESSES

According to a report in the Türkiye newspaper, known for its proximity to the government, businesses in Istanbul that sell alcohol and tobacco have been warned to complete their security camera installations by January 1.

Accordingly, the security camera system will be positioned to record the sales area, all entrances/exits, and any parking areas from various angles, and the installed system will be of a quality suitable for facial recognition and set up accordingly.

Security cameras will have sufficient resolution. They will be able to record clearly in dark environments. They will have night vision and be capable of 24/7 uninterrupted recording. Image recordings will have a storage feature capable of archiving for at least 30 days. Archived images will be easily accessible by entering the date and time when necessary.

Those who do not install the camera system will be penalized under the "disobeying orders" clause of the Misdemeanors Law.
