Decapitation murder in Aydın solved

The dentist A.Ö., who was caught and taken into custody after a special team established by the gendarmerie solved the case, confessed to the crime. The incident occurred on January 14, 2024, in the Granta area on the Söke-Kuşadası road. According to the information obtained, a male corpse, whose head had been severed from his body and placed in a sack, was found in a vacant lot in the Granta area. Upon notification, numerous gendarmerie and police teams were dispatched to the scene. The teams that arrived at the area quickly cordoned off the scene and began their investigation. As a result of the examination by the duty prosecutor who arrived at the region, the body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute.

HE WAS BEING SOUGHT AS MISSING, HIS BODY WAS FOUND

It was determined that the found body belonged to 4-father-of-four Şerafettin Akalın, who had left his home on December 14, 2023, and never returned. The gendarmerie launched an investigation into the incident.

SPECIAL TEAM ESTABLISHED

Following the incident, which was reflected in the public eye as the "decapitation murder," a special team was established by the Aydın Provincial Gendarmerie Command to identify and apprehend the perpetrator or perpetrators of the murder of Şerafettin Akalın, whose identity was determined as a result of the research conducted. In addition, support was provided to the efforts by JASAT teams affiliated with the Gendarmerie General Command's Department of Public Order.

A TOTAL OF 3 SUSPECTS, INCLUDING DENTIST A.Ö., TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

As a result of the work carried out, individuals named A.Ö. (34), who was learned to be working as a dentist at a private clinic, H.Ö. (71), and V.Ö. (39) were identified as suspects in the "Intentional Killing" incident. With the instruction of the Söke Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a simultaneous operation was organized on the residences and their annexes at a total of 4 addresses, one in the Torbalı district of İzmir and three in the Söke district of Aydın, for the purpose of apprehending the suspects and seizing criminal evidence. Three suspects were caught and taken into custody in the operation.

CONFESSED TO THE CRIME

During the interrogation, one of the caught suspects, A.Ö., confessed to the crime. It was learned that A.Ö. stated that he went to see Şerafettin Akalın, who was waiting by the side of the road, that they started arguing while walking on the land, and that he committed the murder after Akalın attacked him with an axe.

A.Ö., who confessed to his crime, was arrested by the court he was brought before and sent to a Closed Penal Execution Institution, while the other suspects H.Ö. and V.Ö. were released.
