Decision to establish a parliamentary inquiry commission regarding school attacks published in the Official Gazette

Following the school attacks, it was decided to establish an Inquiry Commission in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey with the consensus of all political parties.

The decision was published in the Official Gazette and included the following statements: "In accordance with Article 98 of the Constitution and Articles 104 and 105 of the Rules of Procedure, it has been decided at the 84th Session of the General Assembly on 21.04.2026 to open a parliamentary inquiry to examine in all its aspects the incidents occurring in schools in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş, as well as the risks and negative effects children face in digital environments, to develop solution proposals, and to determine the measures that must be taken to prevent similar incidents; that the Commission to conduct this inquiry shall consist of 22 members; that the working period of the Commission shall be 3 months starting from the date of the election of the Chair, Deputy Chair, Spokesperson, and Secretary; and that it may work outside of Ankara when necessary."
