Eğitim-İş General Secretary Seher Ergin asks Minister Yusuf Tekin: Why are the schools of the 719 LGS top scorers being hidden?

Stating, "We are asking the Honorable Minister Yusuf Tekin," Ergin noted the following:

"In which schools did these 719 students study? With which teachers and in what educational environments did they achieve this success? Why is it being hidden from the public?

Until now, when LGS results were announced, the school types, provinces, and success conditions of the top scorers were shared with the public, contributing to the evaluation of education policies. This year, however, the Ministry of National Education chose to hide this information.

Did these top scorers attend public schools or private schools?

What is the state of equal opportunity in education?

How did the public education system fare in this exam?"

Stating that the answers to these questions are vital for discussing the deep inequalities in education and the state of public education, Ergin said, "This is not possible without transparency."

Calling on Minister Tekin, Eğitim-İş General Secretary Seher Ergin continued her statement:

"You are responsible to all components of education and the public. Disclose the school information of the LGS top scorers. Hiding the conditions under which these successes were achieved and whose efforts contributed to them is neither pedagogical, nor ethical, nor democratic.

Transparency is not just a choice; it is a public responsibility.

The allegation that exam question images were shared in WhatsApp groups while the exam was ongoing has created doubts among our students, parents, and the educational community regarding the reliability of the exam."

Reminding that Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin announced that an administrative investigation had been launched against 29 people regarding allegations that the LGS question booklet was leaked before the exam, Ergin said, "While the allegations of irregularities regarding the LGS have not yet been clarified, General Manager of Information Processing at the Ministry of National Education, Özgür Türk, was dismissed.

As Eğitim-İş, we have taken the allegations of irregularities in the LGS to the judiciary. We have filed a criminal complaint against those responsible for the investigation of the allegations regarding the High School Entrance Exam (LGS) 2025 and for the clarification of the process regarding the suspicions.

We will follow the process to protect the rights and efforts of our students," she said.
