En route from Russia to Mersin: Broke down in Haydarpaşa

The 183-meter-long oil tanker named 'OSAKA', which was drifting toward the shore due to a steering failure off the coast of Istanbul Haydarpaşa Port, was towed and anchored at the Küçükçekmece Anchorage Area.

In a post shared on the social media account of the Directorate General of Coastal Safety, it was stated that the 183-meter-long tanker named 'OSAKA', carrying 40,696 tons of petroleum products, which was drifting toward the shore due to a steering failure off Haydarpaşa while en route from Russia to Mersin, was secured through immediate intervention by tugboats.

The statement reported that the ship was safely anchored at the Küçükçekmece Anchorage Area under the coordination of the Istanbul Vessel Traffic Services Center and accompanied by a pilot, after being towed by the KURTARMA-7, KURTARMA-10, and KURTARMA-11 tugboats.
