Institutional lawsuit from Erdoğan against CHP: Exactly 8 years later

Exactly 8 years later, Erdoğan has filed an insult lawsuit against the members and substitute members of the CHP Party Assembly (PM) and the High Disciplinary Board from that day.

The case will be heard at the Ankara 13th Criminal Court of First Instance.

CONVERTED INTO A COLLECTIVE LAWSUIT

When the declaration in question was announced, a criminal complaint was filed by Erdoğan, and CHP PM members gave statements to prosecutors, after which a few individual lawsuits were filed.

Now, all of them have been consolidated and converted into a collective lawsuit.

The collective lawsuit was filed on November 22, 2024, the same day that the 7th Chairman of the CHP, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, appeared in court.

One of the individual lawsuits filed regarding the same declaration concerned PM member Fikri Sağlar. Sağlar was acquitted in that case, but the Supreme Court process is ongoing.

POLITICAL CRITICISM DEEMED AN INSULT

The lawsuit of Mehmet Tüm, the CHP Deputy Chairman responsible for Overseas Organizations, was also ongoing.

Thus, Tayyip Erdoğan has filed a lawsuit against the institutional identity of the CHP. The political criticism of the main opposition party has been accepted as an insult to the president and turned into a public prosecution.
