Erdoğan signs it: Lowest pension officially becomes 20,000 TL
The amendment, which provides for increasing the lowest pension from 16,881 TL to 20,000 TL, has been published in the Official Gazette with President Erdoğan's signature and has entered into force.
The law, which closely concerns millions of retirees, has been published in the Official Gazette with the signature of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
The legislative proposal, which raises the lowest pension to 20,000 liras, was fully accepted in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) General Assembly on January 23.
DESPITE OPPOSITION OBJECTIONS, THE LOWEST PENSION HAS OFFICIALLY BECOME 20,000 TL
The amendment, which provides for increasing the lowest pension from 16,881 TL to 20,000 TL, has been published in the Official Gazette and has entered into force.
The following article regarding the matter was included in the January 29, 2026 issue of the Official Gazette:
"ARTICLE 7- The phrase “16,881” in the first sentence of the first paragraph of the additional article 19 of the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law No. 5510, dated 31/5/2006, has been changed to “20,000”."
Despite all objections from the opposition and retired citizens, the lowest pension has become 20,000 TL.
