Erdoğan speaks after cabinet meeting: 'Timing of TUSAŞ attack is significant'

Erdoğan's statements:

We are advancing with determination and patience on the path to building the Century of Türkiye, which has become our nation's Red Apple. We do not allow betrayals, sabotage, or base and treacherous attacks to undermine our will or deter us from our goals. In today's cabinet meeting, we addressed issues on the agenda of our country and region across a wide spectrum. We held comprehensive evaluations with our cabinet members on every subject.

"A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR LASTING PEACE HAS BEEN SEIZED IN THE SOUTH CAUCASUS"

With the end of the 30-year occupation in Karabakh, a unique opportunity for lasting peace has been seized in the South Caucasus. Winds of peace are now blowing in this geography. We are closely following the sincere efforts of dear Azerbaijan and Armenia. Our hope is to receive good news as soon as possible without giving an opportunity to those trying to sabotage the process. We will continue to work in coordination with our Azerbaijani brothers.

"THERE IS A SEGMENT IN TÜRKİYE THAT PROFITS FROM INFLATION"

A decline has begun in inflation, which is a headache for our country along with the entire world, including Europe and the USA. The bubble of exorbitant prices has disappeared or is disappearing in major sectors. More will follow. We will absolutely not allow those who eye a halal morsel to get away with it. We have cracked down, are cracking down, and will continue to crack down on those trying to fill their pockets with price-tag games. Unfortunately, there is a segment in Türkiye that profits from inflation. They have become accustomed to adding money to their wealth in a comfortable space without producing, without sweating, and without taking risks.

Three elections, the pandemic, and the earthquake caused us to feel the effects more severely. We could not keep the economic repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine war entirely at bay. This picture led inflation profiteers to rub their hands in glee. As our Central Bank's reserves increased, the intensity of their criticism also increased. Because they lost as Türkiye won, they immediately went on the offensive through their hitmen. They tried to demoralize our nation with lies, misinformation, and manipulative news. Despite all the difficulties it has experienced, our nation understands us and believes in us. We are determined not to let this noble and self-sacrificing nation down. It is our duty to meet the reasonable demands coming from our business world while remaining loyal to our general goals.

BILATERAL RELATIONS WITH GERMANY

This year, we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the friendship treaty between Türkiye and Germany. We hosted German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Istanbul. We are strengthening our cooperation with Germany. Our goal in bilateral trade, which has reached 50 billion dollars, is 60 billion dollars. By using our potential at the highest level, I hope we will achieve this goal. Even if there are differences of opinion on issues such as Israel's massacres, Germany is our country's most important partner in Europe.

"WE ARE NOT CHANGING TRACKS"

We are conducting our foreign policy with a 360-degree perspective, in accordance with Türkiye's geographical location, goals, and human, historical, and commercial ties. We are taking steps in line with our own interests, not in the direction drawn for us by others. We go where Türkiye's interests lie. I have said this on different occasions before. The main backbone of our foreign policy is the Türkiye Axis. Türkiye's security sensitivities and economic and commercial interests are above everything else. We are not changing tracks. With a Türkiye-centered approach, we are trying to take the place we deserve in the changing global system.

TÜRKİYE AND BRICS RELATIONS

I held bilateral meetings with leaders at the BRICS Summit. I believe that we have serious cooperation potential with the countries in the BRICS platform. I think that advancing our relations with BRICS, which covers 30 percent of the world's surface area, 45 percent of its population, accounts for 40 percent of oil production and two-fifths of trade, and offers significant opportunities for our country, which is among the world's top 10 economies, will be to Türkiye's benefit in every respect. BRICS relations are not an alternative to our existing engagements.

"THE TIMING OF THE TUSAŞ ATTACK IS SIGNIFICANT"

We received the news that 5 of our fellow countrymen were martyred in the terrorist attack at TUSAŞ. It is clear that the timing of the attack and the target chosen were not a coincidence. It is also significant that this treacherous terrorist act corresponds to a different climate in our country's domestic politics. The latest attack has once again shown whose pawns the separatist organization are. It is understood that the terror barons who feed on blood are looking for new masters for themselves in our region. As Türkiye, we have crumpled up and thrown away the messages intended to be sent with this base attack. There can be no message for us to take from terrorism and its patrons. This terrorist act is a sign of panic and desperation. Over 470 point targets were hit. A total of 213 terrorists, including those at the responsible level, have been neutralized. Our TAF and MIT did not leave the blood of our martyrs on the ground.

"THE DISGRACEFUL DEATH OF THE FETÖ RINGLEADER SHOULD BE A LESSON TO EVERYONE"

The disgraceful death of the FETÖ ringleader should be a lesson to everyone. Those who betray this nation will not prosper either in this world or in the eternal realm, and they will always be remembered with curses.

We also welcomed the fact that our political parties spoke with one voice against terrorism. As for those who do not even condemn a terrorist act whose perpetrator is clearly evident, I leave them to the judgment of our nation.

HOUSING PROJECTS IN THE EARTHQUAKE ZONE

By the end of this year, we will have delivered 201 thousand 688 more homes and workplaces, and we will have delivered 452 thousand 958 homes, workplaces, and barns in total. We will not leave any eligible beneficiary in the earthquake zone who has not entered their home.
