Fake diploma scandal at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University
It has been alleged that an employee working as a janitor at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University forged a diploma in their own name and was subsequently appointed to an important administrative position.
According to allegations emerging at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, a staff member working as cleaning personnel secretly accessed the university's information system, made it appear as though they had taken exams, and thereby created a fake diploma in their own name. It is claimed that with these documents, they were quickly appointed to the financial affairs coordination office, rising to a high-level position.
Following these developments, it was stated that the employee in question has been suspended.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED AT THE UNIVERSITY
Following the public outcry over the incident, the university administration announced that it is taking the allegations seriously. In an announcement made by the university rectorate, it was stated that a comprehensive investigation commission has been established and that all relevant data and documents at the university are being examined with great diligence.
The statement issued by the rectorate included the following remarks:
"The harshest administrative sanctions will be applied to those found to have committed irregularities, those who neglected their duties, and those involved in these processes, and criminal complaints will be filed with judicial authorities."
The university's statement emphasized that the process regarding the incident will be conducted transparently and that any illegal act damaging the institution's credibility will be pursued with determination.
