First statement from Demirtaş following ECHR ruling

The ECHR Panel rejected the appeal filed by Turkey last month requesting that the case of former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş be reheard by the ECHR Grand Chamber.

The ECHR's ruling on the violation of rights regarding Demirtaş has now become final.

Sharing a post on his social media account following the decision, Demirtaş stated the following:

"Hello,

The ECHR ruling is, of course, important and legally binding. However, not only for us, but for our 86 million citizens, the "law of brotherhood" among us is more valuable than anything else. The law of brotherhood is strengthened by carrying out social, economic, and legal work and taking steps that will cement our living together in equality, freedom, justice, and peace.

Issues should be addressed not through concepts of winning, losing, grudge, or revenge, but through concepts of a common future and common sense.

Wishing that every step taken serves peace, tranquility, and prosperity, and hoping to meet in free days, I send my greetings and love."
