Force majeure status in earthquake zone extended by 4 months: New deadline announced

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated, "We are extending the force majeure status, which was set to expire on April 30, 2024, in the provinces of Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Malatya, as well as the İslahiye and Nurdağı districts of Gaziantep, until August 31, 2024."

Minister Işıkhan, in a statement on his social media account, noted that support continues for citizens living in provinces affected by the February 6 earthquakes, and used the following expressions:

EXTENDED BY 4 MONTHS

"We are extending the force majeure status, which was set to expire on April 30, 2024, in the provinces of Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Malatya, as well as the İslahiye and Nurdağı districts of Gaziantep, until August 31, 2024. For workplaces, insured individuals, and general health insurance holders in the specified provinces and districts, we will consider all types of information, documents, and declarations that they are required to submit until the end of the force majeure period as having been delivered within the legal timeframe if they are submitted to the Social Security Institution by September 16, 2024. Furthermore, we are postponing existing premium debts that were due before February 6, 2023, to September 30, 2024, and premium debts for the months of January through December 2023 and January through July 2024 to February 28, 2025, without the application of late payment penalties or interest."

24-MONTH INSTALLMENT PLAN TO BE OFFERED

Stating that they have provided employers, insured individuals, and beneficiaries who have restructured or set up installment plans for their overdue debts the opportunity to pay installments that were due between February 6, 2023, and August 31, 2024, by September 30, 2024, Işıkhan added, "For debts within the scope of the postponement, we are providing the opportunity to pay in installments of up to 24 months without interest, provided that an application is made by February 28, 2025, and the necessary conditions are met. We are updating payment deadlines according to the new force majeure date to ensure that our insured individuals in the aforementioned provinces and districts can benefit from services such as debt repayment, reinstatement of rights, and control examination dates without any issues. As in every difficult time, we will heal our wounds together. Because we are Turkey."
