Former FBI Director questioned over 'assassination call' against Trump

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem stated in a post on her X account that Secret Service officials had met with Comey.

In her statement, Noem said, "Today, Secret Service agents interviewed former FBI Director Comey regarding a social media post that called for the assassination of President Trump."

The Secretary stated that Trump would continue to receive the highest level of protection and that the investigation into Comey is ongoing.

Former FBI Director Comey had shared a photo on his Instagram account showing seashells arranged to spell "86 47," a post that drew significant backlash over allegations of an assassination attempt against Trump.

The term "86" is colloquially associated with "getting rid of something or someone," while the number "47" is seen as a reference to Trump, who is the 47th president of the U.S.

Although Comey quickly deleted the photo, it was widely shared on social media and sparked controversy.

U.S. President Trump also accused Comey of calling for his assassination, stating, "He knew exactly what it meant. Even a child would know what it means. If you are an FBI director and you don't know what that means, it means assassination."
