12-year-old Eslem loses her life after attack by stray dogs! Region in turmoil! Children cannot go outside, shopkeepers close their shutters

Eslem Teker, a 7th-grade student at Ahmed-i Hani Middle School who left home yesterday to get books from the district library, was attacked by stray dogs in a vacant lot next to their home in the Yeni neighborhood.

Teker, who was seriously injured and taken to Yüksekova State Hospital by ambulance, lost her life despite all the efforts of the doctors.

DOGS ARE BEING COLLECTED

Following the attack, veterinarians from the Yüksekova Municipality and the Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry began collecting stray dogs in the area where the incident occurred.

More than 20 dogs collected so far have been taken to the animal shelter in the village of Suüstü.

While Eslem's death has plunged the district into mourning, citizens have demanded a solution regarding stray dogs. Neighborhood resident Bedel Altıntaş said, "Yesterday's incident deeply wounded us all. These dogs roaming freely threaten the safety of our children. We can no longer let our children go out into the street. There are constant packs of dogs in the neighborhood, and they bark until morning. We want a solution to be found."

Evin Durmazer stated, "Our children cannot get over the impact of this incident. They are afraid when they see dogs on the street. This situation saddens us families very much."

Mehmet Emin Uca also drew attention to the stray dog problem and stated that they are waiting for an urgent solution from the authorities.
