Former Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu, who resigned after protesting a terrorist commemoration, reappears months later

Former Tunceli Governor Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu has appeared in public for the first time months after leaving his post. According to a report by Tuğba Nur Çelik from Sözcü, Tekbıyıkoğlu, who was seen on a motorcycle with Etimesgut Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu, has broken his long silence.

HE WAS SERVING AS A TRUSTEE IN TUNCELİ

Bülent Tekbıyıkoğlu was appointed as the Governor of Tunceli in 2023. On November 22, 2024, he was appointed as the trustee to the Tunceli Municipality, replacing the dismissed DEM Party Mayor Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu.

On May 17, 2025, a commemoration program held in Tunceli for the so-called leaders of the PKK terrorist organization caused a major stir.

The allegation that permission for the program was granted via a phone call from Ankara was met with public backlash. Following this development, Governor Tekbıyıkoğlu submitted a petition to the Ministry of Interior requesting to be relieved of his duties.

As a result of the crisis that occurred after the commemoration event, Tekbıyıkoğlu was recalled to the Ministry of Interior headquarters. He was subsequently appointed as a Chief Civil Inspector.
