Marmaris earthquake takes Afra Nur's life! She was laid to rest

The earthquake occurred at 02:17 last night. Waking up with her family in their home in the Çamköy neighborhood of Fethiye during the tremor, Afra Nur jumped out of bed in a panic. Her family, noticing the condition of the young girl who lay back down in her bed a short while later, immediately notified medical teams.

The teams that reached the scene transferred Afra Nur to a private hospital. Despite all interventions performed there, Afra Nur could not be saved.

The sudden death of Afra Nur, who was learned to have recently applied for the LGS exam, caused deep sorrow in Fethiye. The young girl's funeral was buried after the funeral prayer held at Eldirek Cemetery.

The funeral was attended by Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras, Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca, her school friends, teachers, and many citizens.

Making a statement after the funeral, Muğla Governor İdris Akbıyık said, "Get well soon to our country and all of Muğla. We experienced an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8, centered in Marmaris, which was felt throughout all of Muğla and the surrounding provinces. We have buried the funeral of a 14-year-old girl. I offer my condolences to our Muğla, our nation, our Fethiye, and the family; may our girl's place be heaven, God willing. A total of 75 of our citizens were affected by the earthquake, but their conditions are generally not serious. Only one of our citizens has a head injury, and their condition is somewhat serious. There are currently 4 citizens remaining in the hospital. There is no destruction in the structures, only cracks in a few buildings. That is the extent of the situation. All our units, AFAD, our Police Department, our Gendarmerie personnel, our healthcare workers, doctors, and all personnel, as well as the relevant municipal personnel, are all in the field. Assessment work is being carried out. May God protect us from worse. I will go to Marmaris to visit our injured and make a general situation assessment. Of course, Afra Nur was in the 8th grade. Psychosocial support is also being provided to the family by the psychologists of our Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services. Our condolences. Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Aras said, "It was a truly powerful earthquake that I felt personally. Due to this earthquake, which had its epicenter in Marmaris, I first convey my get-well wishes to our province and the surrounding provinces. Unfortunately, in this earthquake, we very unfortunately lost our 14-year-old child, our girl. We just sent her off to eternity and buried her. I offer my condolences to her family, her loved ones, our Fethiye, and our Muğla. May God give patience. As our Governor just announced, a total of 75 of our citizens were affected by the earthquake. Four of our citizens are injured, and unfortunately, the condition of one of them is somewhat serious. Other than this, no destruction occurred. Although we have some buildings with minor damage, we can say that in general, our Muğla and our surrounding provinces survived this major disaster cheaply. Our Disaster Coordination Center and our Disaster and Emergency Management Department were in the field all night long. We followed the information coming from our neighborhoods and districts instantly, and we monitored the developments until morning. May God not let us experience such pain again. I once again wish God's mercy upon our little girl Afranur, and offer my condolences to her family and all her loved ones. Get well soon to our Fethiye, our region, and our country.
