Imam hangs himself in mosque
An imam serving in Samsun committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope in the mosque where he worked.
The incident occurred at the Göksun Mosque in the Yeşilırmak neighborhood of Samsun's Çarşamba district.
According to the information obtained, the imam on duty at the mosque, Hasan Ocak (45), hanged himself with a rope on the second floor of the mosque as a result of a depression he had entered.
The incident was noticed by the congregation arriving for the afternoon prayer, who then notified the police and medical teams.
Police and medical teams arriving at the scene determined that Hasan Ocak had lost his life at the scene.
Ocak's lifeless body was taken to the Çarşamba State Hospital morgue for an autopsy. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
