Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has launched a new market support program for retirees struggling with economic difficulties. It was announced that a total of 10,000 lira in aid will be provided to 20,000 retirees this year.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) is implementing a new social support program to contribute to the livelihood struggle of retirees. The announcement was made via social media by Ekrem İmamoğlu, the CHP's presidential candidate and Mayor of Istanbul, who has been detained in Silivri Prison since March 23.
İmamoğlu announced that in the program launched this year, a total of 200 million lira in market support will be provided to 20,000 retirees, amounting to 10,000 lira annually per person.
Touching upon the aid provided in previous years, İmamoğlu stated, “Those who brought our retirees to this point in 23 years should be ashamed. We stand by our retirees. We will not let them bow their heads. We are waiting for your applications for our market support.”
It was noted that the İBB had previously provided 100 million 760 thousand lira in support to 10,076 retirees. It was reported that applications for the new period have started as of today and that the process can be completed via the ALO 153 hotline and the municipality's official website.
