Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that the mediation system for rental disputes is being implemented successfully.
In his statement regarding the mediation system for rental disputes, which came into effect as of September 1, Tunç stated that 76 thousand 780 applications have been made and 32 thousand 98 of these have resulted in an agreement.
In a message shared via social media, Minister Tunç noted that the mediation system for rental disputes allows citizens to resolve their issues without entering into legal proceedings.
Emphasizing that the agreements reached between parties thanks to the mediation system contribute to lowering rental prices by reducing evictions and the need for new rentals, Tunç continued his statement as follows:
"76 thousand 780 applications have been made to the mediation system for rental disputes, which was launched on September 1. Of these applications, 32 thousand 98 resulted in an agreement, meaning a total of 64 thousand tenants and landlords resolved their disputes in a friendly manner without resorting to legal channels.
Considering that 20 thousand rental lawsuits were filed in August, and expecting approximately 70 thousand lawsuits in 3.5 months, the fact that the number of lawsuits remained at 13 thousand 923 has contributed to reducing the workload of the judiciary. More importantly, it has served social peace by reducing disputes between tenants and landlords."
