The latest earthquake changed employees' decisions: 17 percent do not trust

According to the survey results, 35 percent of employees in the Marmara region are considering moving due to the earthquake. Kariyer.net, in a study conducted with over 1,500 employees residing in and around Istanbul, revealed that a significant portion of employees in the Marmara region are planning to move due to earthquake anxiety.

The research showed that 57 percent of employees experienced anxiety after the earthquake, while only 7 percent felt safe.

According to the research, approximately 80 percent of employees in Marmara are concerned about the earthquake. While 82 percent of participants stated that they work at the workplace full-time, more than 70 percent expressed that they prefer a hybrid model.

While the rate of those considering moving due to earthquake anxiety is 35 percent, approximately 33 percent of those who do not consider moving reported that they trust the infrastructure of the region and buildings they are in. The combination of the cost of living in Istanbul and the risk of an earthquake increases the importance of remote work for employees.

LOW TRUST IN EARTHQUAKE RESILIENCE

While 38 percent of the participants in the research think that their workplaces are earthquake-resistant, 17 percent stated that their workplace is not resilient, and nearly 40 percent stated that they are not sure.

While the rate of those who do not find the measures taken by companies after the earthquake sufficient exceeds 55 percent, most of the participants who find these steps inadequate stated that the solutions are not sustainable.

Disaster training or seminars were among the steps most requested by employees. 76 percent of the participants reported that no training or seminars were provided before the earthquake, 60 percent stated that they needed such training, and more than 65 percent stated that their company did not have a disaster plan.
