Mahmut Tanal challenges 'İmamoğlu's diploma case': Couldn't even convince Istanbul University
CHP Şanlıurfa MP Mahmut Tanal has reacted sharply to the lawsuit filed regarding Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma. Tanal stated that the prosecutor could not even convince Istanbul University, which issued the diploma, of the "fake diploma" allegation.
Regarding the lawsuit filed against Ekrem İmamoğlu, Tanal said, "There is no crime, no perpetrator, yet a prison sentence of up to 8 years and 9 months is being sought. This is not law; it is a political purge."
"THERE IS NEITHER A PERPETRATOR NOR A CRIME"
CHP's Mahmut Tanal argued that there is neither forgery nor any concrete act of crime in the file, and noted the following:
"In other words, there is no perpetrator, no forgery, no crime... But still, a prison sentence of up to 8 years and 9 months is being sought. What does this mean? This is not law; it is an attempt at a political purge."
"THOSE WHO CANNOT WIN AT THE BALLOT BOX WANT TO ELIMINATE THROUGH THE COURTS"
Emphasizing that the ballot box should determine a country's future, Tanal claimed that the government tries to eliminate its opponent through judicial means when it realizes it will lose.
Tanal stated, "Those who realize they cannot win at the ballot box are trying to eliminate their opponent with diplomas, courts, and prosecutors."
"THE EMPHASIS ON THE YSK IS A CONFESSION OF ANXIETY OVER CANDIDACY"
Touching upon Ekrem İmamoğlu's emphasis on the "YSK" (Supreme Election Council), Tanal argued that this meant, "This person could become a presidential candidate at any moment, hurry up."
"THIS FILE IS A PLOT AGAINST THE WILL OF THE NATION"
Stating that the file has moved beyond being a matter of a diploma, Tanal continued as follows:
"This file is no longer a 'diploma' file; this file is a plot set up against the will of the nation. If Turkey is a state of law, then the law speaks with evidence, crime, and action. Not with slander."
Arguing that the nation's right to vote is being targeted, Tanal said, "We will not allow the nation's will and right to vote to be usurped."
HERE ARE THOSE LINES FROM MAHMUT TANAL:
The prosecutor could not even convince Istanbul University, which issued the diploma, of his claim that Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma is "fake"!
Istanbul University's own lawyer states it clearly in court:
"We are not pointing to an act directly committed by the plaintiff."
In other words, there is no "perpetrator",
there is no "forgery",
there is no "crime"...
Yet, they are still seeking up to 8 years and 9 months in prison!
What does this mean?
This is not law;
it is an attempt at political liquidation.
The ballot box determines the future of a country.
But when the government realizes it will lose,
it tries to sideline its opponent with diplomas, courts, and prosecutors.
As İmamoğlu said:
The emphasis on the "YSK" (Supreme Election Council) means this:
'This person could become a presidential candidate at any moment, hurry up!'
This file is no longer a "diploma" file;
this file is a conspiracy set up against the national will!
If Turkey is a state of law,
the law speaks through evidence, crime, and action.
Not through slander!
We will not allow the nation's right to vote to be usurped!
